Bunds and containment areas are there to stop a problem spreading, but once liquids, sludge and residue begin collecting inside them they need cleaning with the same level of care as the storage asset they protect. Left alone, build-up in a bund can make inspections harder, reduce usable containment space and complicate any repair or maintenance work around the tank itself.
