Liquid waste disposal sounds straightforward until a tanker arrives and the site is not ready. The quickest jobs usually happen when the waste stream, access route and paperwork have already been checked.

Know what is in the liquid waste

Liquid waste can include wash water, interceptor contents, process residues, oily water, contaminated water, effluent or chemical mixtures. The collection method may look similar from the outside, but the disposal route can be very different.

Before booking, gather what you know: where the liquid came from, whether it may contain oil, silt, chemicals or solids, how long it has been stored and roughly how much is present. If the waste comes from a process, safety data sheets and site records can be useful.

Check access before the tanker is booked

Tankers need room to manoeuvre, a safe standing area and a workable distance from the pickup point. Long hose runs, soft ground, height restrictions, locked gates and busy loading yards can all affect the job.

Good preparation is simple: confirm the collection point, isolate the area where needed, make sure covers or valves can be opened safely, and tell the contractor about any induction or permit requirements. If the liquid is in a below-ground tank, separator, bund or pit, say so early.

Do not leave classification until collection day

Business waste has to be described correctly before it is moved. Where liquid waste is contaminated or potentially hazardous, the description should be agreed before the vehicle is on site. That avoids the wrong tanker, the wrong paperwork or a rejected load.

Mantank provides liquid waste removal for commercial and industrial sites, including jobs where tankering needs to be planned around site access and waste type.

If you need liquid waste disposal support, contact Mantank to discuss the waste route, tanker access and site arrangements before collection day.

FAQ

Can a tanker remove liquid waste with solids in it?

Often yes, but the contractor needs to know about sludge, silt or debris so the right equipment is sent.

Do I need to know the exact volume?

An estimate is usually enough to start planning, but a more accurate volume helps with vehicle choice and disposal paperwork.
